“My coaches watched the fight and are studying (Holloway). I want to say that the boy was talking about me accepting, but he has to talk to the UFC. From the beginning I said I would fight him (Holloway), because he was a guy I saw at the time who had a chance to fight me, especially because Conor wasn't going to return to the category. I don't know where he said that Aldo doesn't fight, if I always thought I would fight him. I even told Dana at the meeting. In February I already knew, it was between Holloway and Pettis, everyone knew. It's not a new thing. This fight was already supposed to happen and will happen on February 11th. It was already closed long before, we just couldn't announce it, a normal thing in the UFC. Before this fight happened, both of them (Pettis and Holloway) knew that the winner would fight me in Brooklyn. Everything was fine”, declared Aldo.

Holloway won the interim featherweight belt with a knockout Anthony Pettis in the main fight of UFC 206, which took place last Saturday (10), in Toronto, Canada. After the victory, Max assured that he was not sure when he would face the Brazilian, as, according to him, some “personal commitments” could delay the duel. Aldo, however, tried to deny “Blessed”, and assured that the date had already been set.

“The date is right. I will fight this day with him or someone else. Is this right. Whether he shows up or not is his problem. Everyone has children and families. Anyone who wants to be a champion doesn't have that. I've already fought at the Super Bowl event, close to Christmas and New Year's, so it's easy to analyze who won't show up. The date is already set. The UFC knew, Dana knew, everyone… We just didn’t announce it because the fight hadn’t happened yet”, he concluded.
