“I prefer to return to welterweight, I feel like it’s my category. But let's see if they offer me another fight at middleweight. I came here to replace Rashad evans and I heard that the UFC needs an opponent to Vitor belfort in Brazil, so if they want to marry this fight, let’s go for it”, commented Gastelum at the post-UFC 206 press conference.

The North American was forced to return to middleweight after failing to make the welterweight limit at UFC 205. At the time, he would fight against Donald Cerrone, but was far from reaching 77 kg. and didn't even go to the weigh-in. The fight against Cowboy was cancelled.
