Anthony Pettis explains weight-cutting failure: 'My body stopped'

Former lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis would have his second featherweight fight, Saturday (10), at UFC 206. But now the duel with Max Holloway, which would be valid for the interim title of the category, will be in caught weight. That's because “Showtime” stopped hitting its weight for the first time in its career.

He explained that giving up trying to get the last few grams off was a decision made together with his team and with the approval of a UFC doctor.

“My body just wouldn’t let me lose any more weight. We did everything right, but my body stopped, I couldn't take anything else. Giving up on the weight cut process was my decision and that of my team”, explained the American to the “MMA Fighting” website.

now just Max Holloway he will be able to win the interim featherweight title if he wins the main fight of UFC 206. If Pettis wins, the interim title will remain vacant.
