Aldo's coach: 'Rematch with Conor could be in boxing'

Dedé Pederneiras does not rule out a duel outside the UFC due to their desire to migrate to the sport

José Aldo He no longer hides his desire to box professionally after his contract with the UFC ends. And since Conor McGregor is also thinking about switching to the sport, Dedé Pederneiras, the Brazilian's coach, commented on the possibility of the rematch between his pupil and the Irishman being in boxing.

“Aldo wants to box professionally. And then, when he had this opportunity for a possible agreement to cancel the contract, he was going to start his boxing career. (…) There is this talk, we are going to try that, about him boxing. Who knows, maybe one day we might even have a fight with Conor (McGregor), since he announced his desire to box.”, commented Dedé, on the Combate channel website.

Even under contract with the UFC, McGregor recently took a leave of absence to fight professional boxing in California. Aldo, on the other hand, tried to free himself from Ultimate to migrate to boxing when he announced his retirement. After conversations with Dana White, the Brazilian gave up on the idea, at least for now, and should return to the Octagon in early 2017.
