Anthony Pettis will have the opportunity, at UFC 206 next Saturday (10), to win two titles at different weights in Ultimate. And there is no lack of confidence for the former lightweight champion, who will compete for the interim featherweight belt against Max Holloway. “Showtime” said that his opponent, only 25 years old, is not mature enough to beat him, and even compared himself to the Hawaiian's last tormentor, Conor McGregor.
“I see Max as a younger version of myself, raw, naturally talented and he really wants that. But I have the skills ready to beat this kid. The only other changer of my caliber he faced was Conor McGregor. Conor has a good left hand and some reasonable kicks, while I have submissions and wrestling. I have everything, I’m the complete package”, he said in an interview with the “UFC Unfiltered” podcast.
If he beats Holloway, Pettis will become just the fourth fighter to win two different UFC divisions. The others are Randy Couture (heavyweight and light heavyweight), B.J. Penn (welterweight and light) and Conor McGregor (light and feather).
