Chris Cyborg recently demanded that the UFC open the women's featherweight division, even threatening to no longer fight for the organization. Because Dana White revealed that the Brazilian turned down two fights for the featherweight title, which would mean that Ultimate would open the category.

“I offered a fight against Holly holm a month ago, for the featherweight title. Cyborg would have eight weeks to prepare, but she said she wouldn't make the weight. Afterwards, I offered another fight for the title, against Germain de Randamie, at UFC 208, and she again refused. I don’t know what was going through her head”, commented the president of Ultimate, on the “UFC Unfiltered” podcast.
It is unknown whether Cyborg would already enter UFC title contention as a champion defending her belt, or whether she would compete for a vacant title. Dana White just said that she doesn't believe that the Brazilian's refusals have to do with her weight:
“We negotiated with Cyborg at bantamweight, then at the combine and offered her a fight for the featherweight title. And she said she wouldn't gain weight in eight weeks. I don’t think this refusal has anything to do with weight, but let’s wait.”
