Romero suspended for two months for celebrating at UFC 205

Cuban was punished by the New York Athletic Commission for jumping out of the octagon after knocking out Chris Weidman

Another fighter was punished by the New York Athletic Commission (USA). And this time for a peculiar reason. The average weight Yoel romero received a two-month suspension for jumping out of the octagon during his celebration after his victory over Chris Weidman, at UFC 205, November 12th. The information is from the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

According to the Commission's rules, the athlete cannot leave the combat area until the official announcement of the result. The suspension is retroactive to the date of the duel, so Romero will be able to fight again from January 12th. This is the third punishment applied by the body responsible for the event in New York, since Thiago Pitbull e Kelvin Gastelum they had already been suspended for not reaching the weight limit for their categories.

In January of this year, Romero was suspended for six months by USADA (American Anti-Doping Agency) for having been caught in an anti-doping test after his fight against Ronaldo Jacare. However, he was able to prove that he had ingested a contaminated supplement, which resulted in a suspension of just six months. At 39 years old, the Cuban still doesn't know what it's like to lose in the UFC. In the organization since 2013, he won eight fights, six of which by knockout.
