Former UFC lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis, who now operates in the featherweight category, is willing to return to the highest place on the podium. To that end, Pettis, who faces Max Holloway at UFC 206, on December 10th, in Toronto (CAN), for the position of number one challenger at 66kg, he knows that he will possibly need to face the champion Conor McGregor to achieve your objective.
“If he keeps fighting... I'm coming to (get) the featherweight and lightweight belts”, assured the fighter, in a quick interview with the website “TMZ” (USA).
Asked about the Irishman's performance last Saturday (12), when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez in the main fight of UFC 205, in New York, and became UFC lightweight champion, Pettis assured that he was impressed by Conor. “Crazy, man, Conor has one hell of a left hand. He beat up Eddie. I fought Eddie, he's good, but Conor beat him. I’m excited to see what happens next,” he concluded.
Anthony Pettis, 29 years old, won the lightweight belt in August 2013, when he submitted Ben henderson at UFC 164, but was dethroned by the Brazilian Rafael dos Anjos, in March 2015. After the defeat, he went through the worst phase of his career and was also beaten in the next two duels, against Eddie Alvarez and Edson Barbosa. In a bad phase among the lightweights, he dropped down a category and submitted Charles of the Bronx in his featherweight debut in August at UFC Vancouver. In total, he has six triumphs and four setbacks in Ultimate.
