The victory of Conor McGregor over Eddie Alvarez last Saturday (12), at UFC 205, impressed a lot of people. Former boxer Floyd Mayweather was not one of them. The American shrugged his shoulders at the Irishman's achievement and stated that it is disrespectful to be compared to the UFC champion.

McGregor and Mayweather have some characteristics in common: both do not mince words in interviews, have a style full of ostentation and receive large salaries. However, according to Mayweather, the similarities end there.
Mayweather was approached by the report on the website “TMZ” and stated that he did not even watch McGregor’s performance in New York (USA). When asked about his lack of interest, given that McGregor would be the “Mayweather of MMA”, the American was ironic.
“I didn’t know that McGregor was undefeated, that he had gone unbeaten for 20 years, that he had been champion in five different weight classes. I didn't know that, you're telling me something new. Has he ever made $300 million in one night? Did he ever make $100 million in one night? Did he ever make $70 million in one night? You can say he's the Floyd Mayweather of MMA, no problem. But that is not true. Never compare McGregor to me. He is disrespectful. I'm an elephant, and elephants don't care about ants”, countered the former boxer.
Mayweather retired from boxing last year with an undefeated record of 49 wins in 49 fights. In 2016, the American himself expressed his interest in having a fight with McGregor in boxing, but the duel never got off the ground.
