The Brazilian Mauricio Shogun is willing to regain the UFC light heavyweight belt and the first step on this journey will be at UFC Rio, on August 27th, in the capital of Rio. Shogun, who is part of the training in the United States, together with Rafael Cordeiro, his teacher at the beginning of his career, shows confidence in victory.
“I have Master Rafael (again) with me”, he said. “I'm very happy because for a long time I didn't have an MMA coach.” “I'm ready for anything, whichever way I win, I'll be happy,” added the Brazilian.
Praised by Shogun, coach Rafael Cordeiro does not hide from his responsibility and promises to leave the Tupiniquim athlete ready for victory.
“I want to prepare your mind for war. (Training) partners will help the body. I want to prepare your mind for war”, said Rafael. The master also analyzed the first fight between Shogun and Griffin, held in 2007, at UFC 76, when the Brazilian was recovering from a knee injury and was submitted in the last round of the fight.
“When he first fought Forrest, he came from surgery,” Cordiero said. “He didn’t train much for the first fight. It's no excuse, but now, what he's going to do is different. He doesn't have any injuries. He will be ready to fight,” he concluded.
