The controversy involving ZUFFA, the company that owns the UFC and Strikeforce, and the Dutchman alistair overeem It really seems to have no end. After the Dutchman was dismissed for not agreeing to bring forward his fight against Antonio Pezão from October to September, the company that owns the events took yet another punitive measure.
ZUFFA fired, this Wednesday, three athletes from Golden Glory, Alistair's team. On the list of expendables are Valentijn Overeem, brother of Alistair, Jon Olav Einemo, who fought in the UFC, and even Marloes coenen, who lost her Strikeforce belt last Saturday, when she was submitted by Miesha Tate. The confirmation was made by Golden Glory coach, Martijn de Jong, via Twitter.
With the layoffs, Golden Glory only has one athlete under contract with ZUFFA. Russian heavyweight Sergey Kharitonov, who faces American Josh Barnett, in the semifinals of the Bellator GP.
