The confusion between Strikeforce and the heavyweight champion alistair overeem won a final point on Friday night. To the surprise of many, the Dutch fighter was fired from the event and no longer has a contractual relationship with ZUFFA, the company that owns the UFC and Strikeforce. The information was released by the North American program “Inside MMA” and confirmed shortly afterwards by the organization.

The controversy between Overeem and Strikeforce began on the 19th, when after refuse to bring forward his fight against Brazilian Antonio Pezão, valid for the semifinals of the organization's GP, the athlete ended up being cut from the tournament. Two days after his retirement, Alistair was a guest on the North American program “MMA Hour” and fired a shot at the event's production, which according to him, anticipated its combat only due to commercial interests.
