The city's police and fire department were called and managed to prevent the accident from taking on greater proportions, preventing the fire from spreading to the fighter's house. The suspects are being sought by authorities, but have not yet been identified.
Through his social networks, Pettis commented on the episode and expressed dejection, but stressed that he would do his best to help with the investigations to find the criminals.
“I am a fighter and I will not be defeated by this. I am extremely confused and saddened by the events that have occurred. I'm grateful that no one was hurt by this cowardly attitude. My life and that of those I love were put at risk. I don't understand how anyone could want to hurt me or my family. I will do everything possible to find whoever committed this crime and so that they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I live defending my choice to live in this city. Even with the crimes that have been occurring recently, this is my home. I hope that the city I represent will support me in this and help me by telling me anything they know about what happened”, wrote the former UFC lightweight champion.
Amidst the confusion, Anthony Pettis prepares to return to the octagon. He faces the packed Max Holloway at UFC 206, in Toronto, Canada, in a confrontation that could define the next challenger for the featherweight belt, which has Conor McGregor as linear champion and the Brazilian José Aldo as interim.
