After José Aldo, yet another former UFC champion is determined to terminate his contract with the organization. The heavy weight Frank mir, Ultimate champion on two occasions – 2004 and 2008 -, provisionally suspended for having been caught in an anti-doping test at the beginning of the year, stated that he will no longer fight in Ultimate and that he intends to end his relationship with the company.

“I'm still under contract, but I'm trying to get rid of it since they won't use me as a fighter anymore and I'm not getting any younger. If they don't release me after my suspension, I'm here and I want to fight again. I want to take a step out of the UFC”, declared the fighter, according to the North American website “MMA Mania”.

Interestingly, Mir, who has always been recognized for his sharp jiu-jitsu, which has already claimed victims like Rodrigo Minotauro e Brock Lesnar, stated that he intends to test himself in other types of combat sports.

“I never did kickboxing fights. I already fought amateur boxing once, but I want to do a professional boxing fight. I want to test myself in different ways. The UFC wants to protect the fighters that are under contract, and I'm very grateful for that, but I'm limited to not doing what I want until I'm 100% coaching. I want experience in different aspects of the sport. My goal is to have five kickboxing fights under K-1 rules and five professional boxing fights before retiring”, he concluded,

Mir was caught by USADA (American Anti-Doping Agency) with metabolites of turinabol in his system shortly after his last fight, when he was knocked out by Mark Hunt in March this year. At 37 years old, Mir built practically his entire career in Ultimate: of the 29 professional fights he had, 27 were in the company, with 16 wins and 11 losses.
