Confirmed in a duel against Chael Sonnen at Bellator 170 in January, Tito Ortiz assured that he hadn't felt as motivated as he had in a long time. The veteran, former UFC light heavyweight champion, sees the fight as an opportunity for redemption and warned that he will “crush” his rival.

Ortiz and Sonnen are longtime rivals dating back to their college wrestling days. Precisely for this reason, the announcement made the “Bad Boy of Huntington Beach” feel excited again for a duel.

“This fight has been taking shape for 20 years, so, yes, it is a kind of redemption. This is an opportunity to give back. Chael chose the wrong person at the wrong time. He motivated the wrong person. The flame that is inside me now cannot be compared to any other. This is more important to me than fighting for the title in my last fight. This fight will be a redemption, because I have the opportunity to clear my name and crush Chael Sonnen”, said Tito, during a video released by Bellator on Facebook. “This isn't a wrestling match, and from what I saw last time, Chael doesn't like getting punched in the face. I'm going to try to defend that takedown and I'm going to make him feel pain. It’s about hurting this guy, and I’m going to do it,” he continued.

Bellator 170 takes place on January 20th, in Los Angeles, California (USA). It will be Sonnen's first fight since leaving the UFC. Ortiz will rise to the cage of Bellator for the fourth time: in the past, he had two victories, over Stephan bonnar and Alexander Shlemenko, and a loss, to Liam McGeary.
