Not all fighters know how to deal with failure. Welterweight Matt Brown is definitely an example of this. In a bad phase in his career, with four defeats in the last five times he entered the Octagon, the American revealed that he thought about taking his own life after his most recent setback, against Jake ellenberger at UFC 201 last July. He even compared it to the case of Ronda Rousey, who also admitted to having considered suicide after being knocked out by Holly holmin November 2015.

“It was very difficult to deal with that. I probably felt like Ronda. I wanted to kill myself, what happens after every defeat, you know. We are all equal”, declared Brown, in an interview with the program “The MMA Hour” (USA).

However, shortly afterwards he explained the reasons that made him give up the idea of suicide and change the way he saw things. "But, you know what? I have three children and I had to go home and be an example for them. I had to wake up the next morning, make breakfast normally and show them that no matter how many times you fall, you get up and try again,” he concluded.

Matt Brown, 35 years old, has a new chance to change the course of his career on December 30th, in Las Vegas, when he faces the Belgian Tarec saffiedine at UFC 207. In Ultimate, he has 22 fights, with 13 positive results and nine negative results.
