Jones was caught in a surprise test in July, just days before his fight against Daniel Cormier at UFC 200. At the time, the North American insisted on his innocence, expressed shock at the positive result and assured that he would prove that he had not intentionally ingested anything irregular.
In an interview with the radio program “The Luke Thomas Show”, on the North American radio “SiriusXM”, Howard Jacobs, who handles Jones' case, revealed that the case will have news soon.
“We were able to establish the source of the banned substances. They came from a product that Jon took, and there was no indication on the label of the presence of these substances. We did the tests and the product was contaminated with both [two estrogen blockers]. I know USADA has done independent testing on the product and confirmed what we found. So, practically all the tests we carried out showed us that the product was contaminated with clomiphene and Letrozole”, highlighted the lawyer.
Jones will soon undergo a hearing at the Nevada Athletic Commission, when his definitive suspension will be determined. Other UFC athletes, such as Yoel romero e Tim means, had their sentences drastically reduced after the use of contaminated supplements was proven.
