The Strikeforce heavyweight GP suffered a huge loss on Monday night (18). Champion of the category, semifinalist of the tournament and considered one of the favorites, the Dutchman alistair overeem is out of contention. The fighter was cut for refusing to face the Brazilian Antonio “Pezão” Silva on September 10th, as, according to the athlete's statements, he is recovering from a foot injury.
With Overeem's departure from the GP, Brazilian Antonio Pezão Silva has another opponent in the dispute. The Brazilian heavyweight will face the undefeated North American Daniel Cormier, which faces Brazilian Antônio Pezão. The winner of this fight will make the tournament final against the winner of the fight between Josh Barnett and Sergei Kharitonov.
