Dissatisfied with his situation within the UFC, José Aldo will meet with the organization's leadership next week to ask for his release from the contract. The interim featherweight champion was firm in his desire to retire and wants to discuss the matter personally with his bosses.

Aldo decided to give up the sport when he found himself without the opportunity to challenge Conor McGregor by the linear title of the category. Instead of marrying the fight, the UFC gave the Irishman the chance to move up a category and try to win the lightweight belt, against Eddie Alvarez, at UFC 205.

The Brazilian then announced that he no longer wants to compete and that he intends to dedicate himself to other personal projects. The fighter and his coach-manager, Dedé Pederneiras, will travel to the Ultimate headquarters, in the United States, on the 19th.

“We already have a meeting scheduled to try to resolve everything, but everything has already been said. Let's see what happens. I will be able to speak better when I return [from the meeting]”, said the fighter, in a press conference reproduced by the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

According to Aldo, there is nothing that will change his mind. “[Dana White, UFC president] You can offer me anything. I started to get unmotivated before, as soon as I lost the belt. I had been the champion for a long time and had the right to an immediate rematch, and they didn't give it to me. I already wanted to go do other things, but Dedé made me fight again. I went there and won, and again the rematch didn't come. I have no desire to fight again. I have other projects for my life”, he added.
