Werdum says he suffered an injury during the fight against Overeem

Fabricio Werdum Last Saturday, he lost his chance to win the Strikeforce GP title. But the poor performance against the Dutchman alistair overeem, who beat him in a unanimous decision by the judges, was judged by the Brazilian. The black belt from Rio Grande do Sul stated, in an interview with English ESPN, that he suffered a knee sprain during the duel and the injury hindered his performance.

“If you look closely, you will see that my knee came out of place at the beginning of the second round. It hurt a lot, it was hard to get up and it took away some of my focus,” he said. “I'm going to have an MRI to analyze the injury and find out when I can return to training”, added Werdum. The Brazilian also stated that he made a mistake in his fight strategy, and could have won the fight.

“I should have listened to Rafael Cordeiro (coach) and believed in the fight on the feet. Strategically he (Overeem) was better. Maybe, if I hadn't called guard so many times, I would have won”, concluded the Brazilian.
