Coach and businessman José Aldo, Dedé Pederneiras guarantees that his athlete was serious when he asked to be released from his contract with the UFC. To achieve their goal, the two consider taking legal action against the main MMA organization on the planet.

Aldo became largely frustrated with Ultimate after company president Dana White said publicly that he hoped Conor McGregor give him a revenge in his next fight. A few days later, the Irishman was confirmed in a duel against Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title.

According to Pederneiras, the UFC cannot retain an athlete who is dissatisfied with the working conditions. “I think Dana and the new owners have to understand that they have an employee who is completely dissatisfied and does not want to continue. If it were here in Brazil, and a guy said: 'Boss, I want to leave', I would say, 'Okay, I can't hold you back.' The contract we have with the UFC: 'Boss, I want to leave', the answer is 'No, you're going to be stuck with me, you can't do anything else, but you're not leaving here.' Is it a cool thing? I think that creates dissatisfaction with going to court. He would have to go to court to cut this contract”, he explained, in an interview with the website of the “Combate” channel.

The coach also stated that Aldo was unhappy with the UFC due to the way the negotiations unfolded. “He was already very angry with the situation of leaving him on the back burner without giving an answer. You can't do that to a guy like Aldo. You can do that with a guy who entered the UFC now, not with a guy who went undefeated for 10 years, not with a guy who was the first and only champion until he lost the belt in a 13s situation, and who deserved a rematch , they deceived you and it didn't happen. I think the company has its financial side, I have a company here and I will always think about the financial side, but I won't lie to one of my employees. If there's no way to do it, there's no way to do it. I’m not going to tell everyone this, put it in the newspaper for everyone to see, and then get caught in a lie myself”, he explained.
