Kingsbury defeats Maldonado

The only Brazilian in the fight program, Fabio Maldonado He had a fight full of alternations and very balanced against Kyle Kingsbury. The American started the fight better, applying good kicks and knees, while Maldonado tried to close the distance to work on his boxing. After being at a disadvantage at the beginning of the first round, the athlete from Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo, managed to recover and landed good punches in the stand-up fight. But when the Brazilian tried to take control of the fight, Kingsbury managed a takedown, and despite a well-placed guillotine by Maldonado, the American got out of the attack and remained on top on the ground. In the second round, despite the athletes already being worn out, the duel remained balanced. Kingsbury, appearing more tired, preferred not to risk Fabio's dangerous striking and looked for takedowns, which were most of the time well defended. After two rounds of slight superiority from the North American, Maldonado went on the attack in the last round and landed several punches on his opponent, who threw the blows and stepped back, but it was too late to try to react.
