Willamy Chiquerim scheduled to debut at Dream

After being fired from the UFC earlier this year, the Brazilian Willamy “Chiquerim” Freire will seek his redemption on Asian soil. The lightweight is confirmed on the Dream 17 card, where he will face the Japanese Tatsuya Kawajiri in his debut in the eastern organization on July 16th.

Both Chiquerim and Kawajiri were defeated in their most recent fights. While the Brazilian was released from the UFC after debuting with a defeat to Waylon Lowe, by unanimous decision of the judges, at UFC Fight for the Troops 2, the Japanese was knocked out in the fight for the Strikeforce lightweight belt by the current champion of the category, Gilbert Melendez, at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley.

 

PUBLICITY:

In addition to the confrontation between Chiquerim and Kawajiri, DREAM 17 has, so far, four other confirmed fights. Highlights include the light heavyweight and featherweight title fights, where the champions Gegard Mousasi e Hiroyuki takaya will put their titles in dispute respectively against Hiroshi Izumi e Kazuyuki Miyata.
