UFC president Dana White confirmed that the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov will be Eddie Alvarez's next challenger for the organization's lightweight belt.

The leader was asked by a follower on his Twitter account about a rumor that spread across the internet, which indicated that Conor McGregor would challenge Alvarez for the title at UFC 205, in New York (USA), on November 12.

White gave a very brief response confirming the identity of the next contender for the 70 kg category title. “It’s not true [that McGregor will face Alvarez]. [The next challenger] Will be Khabib Nurmagomedov”, wrote the leader.

Nurmagomedov, 28 years old, has a perfect record in professional MMA, with 23 wins in 23 fights. Among his victims are the former category champion Rafael dos Anjos, in addition to veterans Thiago tavares and Gleison Tibau (beaten by the Russian in a controversial decision). Alvarez won the UFC belt in July, when he knocked out Dos Anjos in the first round.
