The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), an official partner of the UFC, revealed that all tests carried out at UFC 202, on August 20, showed no irregularities. However, the entity is still investigating the case involving Nate diaz and the consumption of medical marijuana shortly after the event.

Diaz, defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges by Conor McGregor in the main fight of the attraction, he appeared at the press conference with an electronic vaporizer that contained CBD oil, also known as medical cannabis. The fighter stated that the situation would fall under the “admitted use” section of the UFC's anti-doping policy.

At the time of the event, USADA had already revealed that it would thoroughly investigate the issue. Even with the negative tests (which prove that Diaz did not enter the octagon under the influence of the banned substance), the matter will continue to be evaluated, as the agency itself informed the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

Because it is not a performance-enhancing substance (also known by its acronym in English as PED), marijuana is only prohibited by anti-doping regulations during the so-called “competition period”. According to the rules of the Nevada Athletic Commission, this period ends with the completion of the last post-fight anti-doping test, which, theoretically, left Diaz cleared to use the substance during the press conference. However, the rules followed by USADA indicate that the period extends for up to six hours after the end of the fight, which would include the press conference.
