An unusual piece of news caught the attention of MMA fans this Monday (19): the North American organizations Legacy Fighting Championship (LFC) and Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) will unite from 2017, thus creating a single company, the Legacy Fighting Alliance, or LFA. Ed Soares, businessman and president of RFA, spoke about the new project in an interview with the program 'The MMA Hour' (USA).

“I felt that RFA and Legacy were the two organizations that sent the most athletes to the UFC and Bellator. We were the leading development organizations. When we join forces, we create something much stronger than apart. We want to create the NCAA [American university league] for MMA. And with this merger, that’s what we’ve built.”

The average number of events held by Legacy is 14 annually, while at RFA the number reaches 13. Based on this assumption, Soares admits that the forecast for the new company is 30 shows in 2017, in addition to having already signed a contract for five years with the North American broadcaster 'AXS TV'.
