Chris Cyborg is going through a drama to reach 63,5kg, the stipulated weight limit for her next fight, which will take place next Saturday (24), in Brasília, against Swedish Lina Lansberg, in the main attraction of UFC Fight Night 95. With just four days left until weighing in and needing to lose 11,3kg, Cyborg had to adopt an unusual treatment to facilitate the weight-cutting process: taking birth control pills.

“My nutritionist (George Lockhart) told me to take birth control pills – which I never took – to help lose weight. I believe him, we are close friends. I've been working with him for two and a half years. After this fight I won't use it anymore, because I don't want my body to stay like it is any longer. When I got the call from the UFC I weighed 79kg. In this camp I didn't get close to 68kg. I traveled with 76kg, today I weigh 74,8kg. I have to lose 11,3kg in five days”, declared Cyborg on the program “The MMA Hour” (USA).

Aware of the risks and the sacrifice involved in reaching the limit proposed by the organization, Cyborg states that she no longer intends to work in a category other than her own – she is the featherweight champion (66kg) of Invicta FC. For her, her health should be a priority.

“I'm a little worried because I'm the main fight, but I'm going to do my best, give 100%. It's not just my head that's on the line, it's George's job. I love the UFC, I love the opportunity, but after this fight we're going to have to sit down and talk. (…) I don’t want to fight at this weight anymore after Saturday. I want to do super fights. Give me the top fighters in my division, or the top bantamweight fighters to fight me at my weight. My health comes first”, concluded the Brazilian.
