Anthony Johnson He doesn't want to wait any longer for a chance to fight for the light heavyweight title. After knocking out the Brazilian Glover Teixeira In just 13 seconds at UFC 202, an event held last August, the North American used social media to challenge the champion Daniel Cormier. For Johnson, UFC 205, an event that will mark the debut of Ultimate in New York, is the ideal date for the battle.

“DC, I want to fight you in New York, November 12th. We have seven and a half weeks to get ready and put on a fight that fans in New York and around the world will remember. It's our time to do battle! When Jon (Jones) started having problems and was removed from my title fight, I accepted you as an opponent three weeks in advance, despite the drastic change in fighting style. You were the better man that night and took the belt. (…) Headlining the event at Maddison Square Garden is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Lets do this! Enough of this waiting game that you or the UFC are playing!”, Johnson posted on his social media.

Cormier quickly responded to the message and said that it was unlikely that the fight would take place in New York, but he was ready to fight at UFC 207, an event that will take place in Las Vegas (USA), on December 30th. “You deserve the (title) fight. Sorry, but it won't happen in New York. You can get (the rematch) on December 30th”, replied the champion.

After the response, 'Rumble' insisted that the fight take place in New York, claiming that 'the sooner the better'. Cormier, for his part, was tongue-in-cheek when he said he'd "let him enjoy Christmas before breaking it again."
