A confrontation between Frankie Edgar x Jeremy Stephens is very close to being made official for the UFC 205 card, an event that will take place on November 12th, in New York. If confirmed, this will be the fifth fight announced for the show, which already features duels such as Donald Cerrone x Kelvin Gastelum, Rashad evans x Tim Kennedy and others. Edgar, 34 years old, is a former UFC lightweight champion and has already challenged for the featherweight belt on two occasions, both against José Aldo. The first was in 2013, when he was defeated by unanimous decision, a result that was repeated in the rematch against the Brazilian, held last July, at the historic UFC 200 – on that occasion, Frankie and Aldo fought for the division's linear belt. With 14 wins, five setbacks and one draw in the UFC, Edgar is currently second in the featherweight rankings.

Stephens, in turn, is coming off a victory over Renan Barao and can be considered a UFC veteran despite being only 30 years old. The North American has already had 23 fights in the organization chaired by Dana White, with 12 positive results and 11 negative results, which shows an irregularity in the athlete's career. Number 7 in the rankings, Jeremy is looking to score two consecutive victories, something that hasn't happened since 2013.
