Pezão is already eyeing a possible confrontation with Barnett at Strikeforce

Qualified for the semifinals of the Strikeforce heavyweight GP, the Brazilian Antonio Pezão wait for the definition of your opponent who will leave the fight between alistair overeem and Fabrício Werdum on June 18th. However, the Paraíba native already has in mind who he would like to face in the final of the tournament if he wins the next challenge in his career.

Pezão’s target is the North American Josh barnett, athlete scheduled to face Brett Rogers in another GP quarterfinal scheduled for the next edition of the event. According to the tough guy, Barnett treats Brazilian athletes differently compared to other fighters in the organization, a fact that displeases the Brazilian fighter.

“I've been fighting since 2004 and I've never had any problems with any fighter. For me, friendship is very important, but Barnett is a strange guy. He treats us differently, he doesn't even say 'good morning' in the elevator, either to me or to Werdum,” he commented.

Still in relation to Barnett's behavior behind the scenes at Strikeforce, Pezão highlighted the difference in the attention given by the North American fighter to the organization's directors. According to the black belt, Barnett would be a “suck-up” to Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta, president and executive director of the UFC, respectively, who became the new owners of Strikeforce in March of this year.

 

“In front of Dana White he is a different person. This makes me sick. I would like to face him, because, despite knowing his full potential as an athlete, I know that I can defeat him and leave both his eyes closed with my punches”, concluded Pezão.
