It is increasingly difficult to predict who will compete for the UFC belts. Aware of the organization's current troubled times, Gegard Mousasi, which has a commitment scheduled against Vitor belfort at UFC 204, on October 8, in Manchester, England, he analyzed the scenario at the top of the middleweight category, and stated that a victory over Belfort puts him close to a title fight.

“I think that if I beat Vitor, I have the Ronaldo Jacare now and the Yoel romero, these guys are still up. But if I beat Vitor, I'll already be up there. It is clear that the Chris Weidman and the Luke Rockhold, as they are former champions, just one victory is enough for them to be ahead of me. But let's see. I don't know, but first I want the Vitor belfort”, he told the North American website ‘MMA Junkie’.

Mousasi also commented on the Brazilian's explosive style, stating that he studied his opponent's game and knows what to do to win the duel between them. “He is explosive and dangerous in the first two minutes, but I saw his last two fights, especially the one with Ronaldo ‘Jacaré’ and Weidman. He can disappear very quickly, so in the first or second minute, if he doesn't manage to do what he wants, he will be mine”, concluded the fighter.

Gegard Mousasi comes from two consecutive victories, both over Brazilians: he overcame Thales leites on points, in February, and knocked out Thiago Marreta at UFC 200, held last July. In Ultimate, he has six wins and three defeats.
