The Brazilian film “Stronger than the world”, which tells the story of José Aldo, was nominated on a preliminary list to represent Brazil at the 2017 Oscars, competing in the best foreign film category at the awards. The list sent includes another 16 national feature films, and Brazil's official representative at the 2017 Oscars will be announced on September 12th, at 14pm (Brasília time). The information was released by the Audiovisual Secretariat.

The film's script tells the story of José Aldo from the outskirts of Manaus towards Rio de Janeiro, where he established himself as one of the biggest Brazilian names in the history of MMA. Directed by Afonso Poyart, “Stronger than the World” premiered in the first half of 2016 and was considered a box office success, bringing around 600 spectators to theaters.

Recently, the website “Folha de São Paulo” reported that the film will be divided into four episodes to become a miniseries on TV Globo, scheduled for release in January 2017. The film's cast includes names such as José Loreto, Cléo Pires, Rafinha Bastos and Claudia Ohana.
