Life as a champion has not been easy for Tyron woodley. At least not on social media. Woodley spoke on his podcast “The Morning Wood Show” that he has been the target of racist attacks on social media since he emerged victorious in the main fight of UFC 201, when he knocked out Robbie Lawler in the first round.

“A lot of people called me a nigger and a monkey and all these racist things and I delete those people, then they create another page and start all over again. People who are willing to spend many hours of their day being negative. Some of them, I looked at the pages, and they spend all day attacking African-American athletes and stigmatizing them”, said the Ultimate welterweight champion.

Tyron also commented that the experience of being a champion has been completely the opposite of what was imagined. According to him, online attacks have increased since he became the belt holder: “I had a lot of people calling me a coward and I had just fought an hour ago. I just got the belt. There were people saying “you should have your belt taken away” and in fact today marks a month since I won the title.”

Tyron woodley, 34 years old, has a record of 16 wins and three losses in professional MMA. He won the UFC welterweight belt by knocking out Robbie Lawler in the main fight of UFC 201, last July (30).
