UFC President says he will not take away Conor McGregor's belt

Dana White says the Irishman will make the decision about his future and denies the possibility of an immediate trilogy with Nate Diaz

UFC president Dana White placed it in the hands of Conor McGregor the decision about the fighter's future within the largest MMA organization on the planet. According to the director, the Irishman will not have his featherweight belt taken away, but he needs to choose what his next step will be in the fights.

McGregor is coming off a victory over Nate diaz in the rematch held at UFC 202, on August 20th. After the fight, the Irishman himself showed interest in having a third duel with his rival, as the confrontation is tied with a victory for each side.

White denied the possibility of this happening immediately, but stated that McGregor needs to define what his future will be in the organization. “He will not have his belt taken away. He will make a decision. He knows that Nate diaz It's not a struggle to be married now. He will defend his belt or give it up and decide what he will do next”, commented the director, in an interview with the North American radio station “NBC Sports”.

McGregor won the featherweight belt in December last year with a quick knockout over José Aldo. Since then, the Irishman has had two fights against Diaz and has not defended his belt once. In July, Aldo defeated Frankie Edgar to win the interim title in the 66 kg division.
