In an event full of good fights, Strikeforce promoted, this Saturday, in San Diego, its first show after selling the organization to the UFC. The highlight of the night was the North American Nick Diaz, who after a spectacular fight against the English Paul Daley, managed to knock out the British athlete and successfully defend the event's welterweight belt. In the other title fight of the night, Gilbert Melendez, training partner Nick Diaz, did not become aware of Tatsuya Kawajiri and beat the Japanese by technical knockout in the opening round, maintaining his reign in the lightweight division.

Nick Diaz and Paul Daley exchanged insults and provocations during the promotion of the night's main fight, but in the octagon the athletes lived up to expectations and settled differences in a sensational duel. In an electrifying fight full of alternations, Nick Diaz, a specialist in ground fighting, was not intimidated by Daley's stand-up game and began exchanging blows openly. The American started better and landed several punches on his opponent, however, in a quick counterattack, Daley surprised him with a cross and Diaz was knocked down. Without wasting time, the English athlete attacked with several punches from his guard and severely punished the champion. Still feeling the attack, Nick managed to get up, connect with a beautiful straight right, and take the British fighter to the ground. From then on, Diaz punished the British fighter with more punches. As Paul was unable to defend himself, the referee declared a technical knockout. With the triumph, Nick Diaz wins his tenth consecutive victory and defends the organization's welterweight belt.

Among the other fights of the night, the highlight was Japanese Shinya Aoki's beautiful submission over Lyle Beerbohm. Right at the beginning of the fight, the American revelation tried to take the fight to the ground, but ended up in a worse position. The Japanese black belt reached his back and ended the fight with a beautiful rear naked choke.
