Ricardo Cachorrão

The black belt Ricardo Cachorrão announced his retirement as an MMA fighter last week, after being defeated by Mike pyle at UFC 128. But anyone who thinks the fighter will walk away from the sport is mistaken. In the letter that announced the end of his career as a professional, Cachorrão already said that he would continue fighting.

“I will continue to fully support the UFC as a coach and, of course, as a big fan”, said the fighter in an excerpt of the letter. However, to the surprise of many, the Brazilian will continue in MMA in an unusual way. In an interview with the North American radio program ProMMA, Cachorrão announced that he will be a side judge for the New Jersey Athletic Commission. This will be the first time that a former UFC fighter has joined a sports regulatory body.
