Phil Davis punishes Minotouro with punches from the guard

UFC Fight Night 24 rocked the night this Saturday (26), in the city of Seattle, in the United States. With two Brazilians in action, the show was not good for the local fighters. In the main fight of the night, Rogério Minotouro did not meet the North American Phil Davis and was defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges. Already Mario Miranda, who was selected on the preliminary card, was surpassed by the North American Aaron simpson.

Coming from defeat to Ryan bader at UFC 119, Rogério Minotouro needed victory against the undefeated Phil Davis to return to the top of the light heavyweight category, but the Brazilian fighter did not find himself in the 15 minutes of combat. With a well-planned strategy, Davis didn't get out of range and landed good kicks to Rogério's body and face. After a balanced first round, the North American managed to put his wrestling into action and took down Minotouro. On the ground, Phil threw good elbows and punches, while the Brazilian just defended himself. With an advantage in the duel, Davis repeated the recipe from the previous round and took the fight to the ground again in the third round. Tired, Minotouro still managed to get up, but it was already too late. In the end, the three side judges gave the victory to Phil Davis by 30 to 27. With the triumph, the North American fighter extends his unbeaten run to nine fights and nine victories, while the Brazilian suffers his second consecutive setback in Ultimate.

Anthony Johnson dominates Dan Hardy and wins by decision

In the second most important fight of the night, better for the North American Anthony Johnson, who was not known to Dan Hardy and defeated the Englishman by unanimous decision from the judges. Right at the beginning of the fight, Johnson delivered a beautiful high kick and knocked Hardy down. On the ground, the North American fighter controlled the round with good strikes from the top, while Dan risked a few submission attempts. In the following rounds, Anthony repeated the effort, looking for a takedown and working with good elbows. In the final moments, Johnson almost ended the fight with a katagatame, which was well defended by the British athlete. In the end, the three judges gave the victory to the North American by 30 to 27.

Amir Sadollah beats DaMarques Jonhson

Winner of the seventh edition of The Ultimate Fighter, Amir Sadollah encountered difficulties, but managed to defeat DaMarques Johnson. After a very balanced first, where Amir was superior in the stand-up fight, while Johnson was better in the ground fight, the fight ended in the second round. With a great sequence of strikes, Sadollah managed to take his opponent to the ground and punish DaMarques with a sequence of punches and elbows. Suffering from the power of the blows and unable to continue the fight, Johnson gave up the duel with three taps

"Korean zombie” takes revenge on Garcia

In the first fight of the main card, the North American Leonard Garcia and the South Korean Chan sung jung they rematched the duel that took place at WEC-48. On that occasion, Garcia won in a controversial decision by the side judges, but this time the “Korean zombie”, as Sung Jung is known, did not give bad luck a chance. After winning the first round, Chan finished in a spectacular fashion in the second round. After grabbing Leonard's leg, the South Korean entered guard and attacked with good elbows. The American turned his back, trying to defend himself, but was caught with an attack on the neck, forcing the vertebra. As a result, Leonard was forced to withdraw from the fight.

Semerzier submits “Bruce Leroy”

In the last fight on the preliminary card, Mackens Semerzier gave no chance to the participant of the last edition of TUF, Alex Cáceres. After a busy start to the standup, Semerzier closed the distance and took down “Bruce Leroy”. On the ground, Mackens managed to get to the back and end the fight with a rear naked choke.


McDonald defeats Figueroa in electrifying fight

Bantamweights Edwin Figueroa and Michael McDonald had an electrifying fight and received a standing ovation from the audience at Key Arena. With good standing strikes, McDonald was better in the initial round, but it was in the second round that his performance was notable. After taking down Figueroa, Michael tried to finish the fight with a series of attacks: armbar, rear naked choke and triangle, all well defended by Edwin. In the last round, the athletes were already showing fatigue and McDonald managed his advantage. In the end, Michael McDonald won with a unanimous decision from the judges.

Mário Miranda loses on the preliminary card

The first Brazilian to enter the Octagon, Mário Miranda had the support of the Seattle public, but the crowd was not enough for him to leave the Octagon with victory. Facing Aaron Simpson, the Brazilian was completely dominated by the North American. With good strikes connected in the stand-up fight, Simpson still took down Mário and landed good punches on the ground. At the end of the three rounds, the side judges gave the victory to Aaron Simpson in a unanimous decision (30×27, 30×27, 30×26)
