Blauna Dian Sonnen was born on August 12th, about ten weeks earlier than expected. The reason for the premature birth was that Chael's wife, Brittany, had contracted the listeria bacteria, transmitted mainly by eating contaminated food.

The child was also born with the disease and was immediately transported to the maximum care area of ​​the hospital. However, she did not survive and died last Wednesday.

Chael and Brittany have been married since 2013 and already have a son, Thero, born in 2015. The 39-year-old American has been away from MMA since November 2013, when he had his last fight – he was defeated by Rashad evans by technical knockout. After that, Sonnen was caught in a series of drug tests and received a suspension that expired in early August. The athlete considered returning to MMA, but it is not yet known whether the personal drama will affect his plans.
