Jones occupied a prominent position in the pound-for-pound division, in addition to first place among light heavyweights. Lesnar jumped to eighth place among heavyweights after winning Mark Hunt at UFC 200 last month. Machida, finally, was also eighth among the middleweights.

Jones was scheduled to headline UFC 200, but was cut from the show after failing a pre-fight test for estrogen blockers. Lesnar even fought at the same event, but it was later revealed that he also failed a pre-fight test using the same substance. Lyoto was not caught in a test: he admitted to the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) the use of the hormone DHEA.

The official UFC ranking is updated weekly and is based on voting by specialized journalists from around the world. Jones, Lesnar and Machida are expected to go to trial soon to officially define their punishments.
