“I live in Tokyo, but I've been in Yokohama for four days. People here are scared... They no longer have water, bread, milk and other food. The stations have no gas, the trains and subways are operating less frequently,” said Cristiano. The Brazilian revealed that several Japanese events were canceled due to the chaos the country is in, and he is already preparing his return to Brazil.
“Several MMA and other martial arts events were canceled due to the tragedy. My gym is closed because of the chaos that has taken over Japan. I haven't trained since Friday (11),” he said. “I received a call from the Heat, of which I am champion, asking about a possible fight on June 5th, but I refused and said that I am returning to Brazil on the 20th (next Sunday)” he stated. Despite the difficulties suffered by the country, Kaminishi guarantees that, if the tragedy is overcome, he will return to Japan to defend his title in 2011.
“If everything goes back to normal, I’ll return to fight on September 25th”, he concluded.
