Conor McGregor will enter the octagon on August 20th, against Nate diaz, with the death of fighter João Carvalho on his mind. The Irishman stated that he still feels shaken by the episode that occurred in April, especially because he had indirect involvement in the fateful fight.

At the Total Extreme Fighting event, in Dublin (Ireland), Carvalho was knocked out and shortly afterwards suffered a sudden illness that left him in serious condition. The Portuguese, who was 28 years old, died due to the severity of his head injuries.

Carvalho's opponent that night was Charlie Ward, McGregor's training partner at the SBG Ireland gym. Having followed everything closely, the UFC champion declared himself shaken by the episode.

“It’s a f*****g situation. Not only was I watching the fight, but I also helped train a guy who was ready to kill someone. Then someone ended up dying. This is a f***ing dangerous sport. People say it's a sport, but it's a fight. I just try to make sure it doesn't happen to me. And that sucks. I still can't believe that boy is dead”, lamented McGregor, in an interview with “Men's Health” magazine.
