Away from MMA due to doping problems, Lyoto Machida will remain active in grappling. The former UFC light heavyweight champion will face off with Jake Shields at the Submit Cancer event, which will be held on August 13th in Denver, United States.

The fight will follow submission rules, a type of jiu-jitsu without the gi. All proceeds raised from the event's fights will be donated to the foundation that supports Colorado Children's Hospital.

At 38 years old, Lyoto is not having a good time in MMA. The Brazilian comes from two consecutive defeats, to Luke Rockhold e Yoel romero. In April, he would duel against Dan Henderson, but was removed from the fight at the last minute after admitting to the United States Anti-Doping Agency that he had ingested a banned substance. Machida is temporarily suspended from fighting and is expected to have his final judgment soon.

Shields has had three fights in WSOF since leaving the UFC in 2014. There were two wins, over Ryan Ford and Brian Foster, and one loss, to Rousimar Toquinho.
