Vitor Belfort faces Gegard Mousasi at UFC 204

Brazilian tries to recover in the octagon in search of the middleweight belt in the same event in which Bisping will defend his title for the first time

Vitor belfort is scheduled to return to the octagon. The 39-year-old veteran fighter will have his 38th fight as a professional at UFC 204, an event that takes place on October 8, in Manchester, England. The Brazilian, fourth in the middleweight rankings, faces Gegard Mousasi, seventh in the classification.

UFC 202 will feature another middleweight duel in the main event. The English Michael Bisping, who was already knocked out by Belfort in 2013, will defend his division title against Dan Henderson.

On Wednesday afternoon (27), Belfort announced in an Instagram post that he was signing the contract for his next fight, without revealing further details. Then, at the beginning of the night, the Combate channel website revealed the opponent and the date for the dispute.

Vitor belfort has a professional record of 25 wins and 12 losses. The Brazilian, who was already UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg.) and winner of a heavyweight tournament (up to 120 kg.), is trying to resume the race for the middleweight belt (up to 84 kg.), which he already competed on two occasions, being defeated by Anderson Silva e Chris Weidman. The Rio native is coming off a defeat to his compatriot Ronaldo Jacare at UFC 198, an event held in Curitiba, in May.

Mousasi, 30 years old, also has a lot of experience in MMA. The Dutch-born Iranian has 48 fights as a professional with 39 wins, six losses and two draws. Gegard will have his third consecutive fight against Brazilians, having already won victories over Thales leites e Thiago Marreta, at UFC 200, earlier this month.
