Judo: Brazil hosts the World Cup in May

The countdown to the II Brazil Judo World Cup, the Brazilian stage of the Judo World Cup, began yesterday. The event, which will once again take place in Belo Horizonte (MG), promises a record number of participants. On the CBJ website, Brazilian fans will be able to count down how many days are left until the competition.

In 2007, the Brazilian stage was attended by 16 countries and some of the biggest names in the sport, including 24 Olympic and world medalists.

The Belo Horizonte World Cup was the most professional event ever held by Pan American Judo, and served as a barometer for the World Championships in September. It was also a great public and media success.

“Our expectation is to exceed the number of participating countries. We are working to reach 25 nations in the championship. The Belo Horizonte World Cup is important to consolidate the position of Brazilian judo as excellence in organizing events, as the results of our athletes speak for themselves”, says the president of CBJ, Paulo Wanderley Teixeira.

The Brazilian team promises to shine again at the Brazil Judo World Cup. This year, the country will compete with four complete teams: Senior, Senior B, Under-23 and Junior.

PUBLICITY:

“The Brasil Judo World Cup is today the biggest national judo event and CBJ applies some of the most modern concepts in sports marketing, TV broadcasting and entertainment at this stage in Brazil. All this without forgetting the main stars of the show, the athletes, who receive special treatment and the best accommodation, food, competition and training conditions. It is today the only World Cup stage held in the Americas and takes place in one of the most modern arenas in the world”, says Mauricio Santos, marketing director at CBJ and WH Sports.

If competing in Brazil is special, fighting at home is even more exciting. World Champion in light heavyweight, Luciano Correa is born in Brasília, but has Minas Gerias in his heart. A few years ago, the athlete left the federal capital for the land of cheese bread.

“Competing in Brazil is always special and in Belo Horizonte it is even more so. The warmth of the Minas Gerais fans is unique and I know they have a special affection for me”, says world champion Luciano Correa, athlete from Minas Tênis Clube.
