Aldo reveals help from 'spy' in fight with Edgar

During the fight, Aldo stopped using a characteristic that marked his career, which are leg kicks. Asked about the matter at a press conference, the champion justified it. “I was quite happy. The only thing that makes me a little sadder is the fact that I didn't kick as much, but there was also a reason. So, I was calm that I wasn't kicking and I was winning the fight well. His hand was very quick and skillful. Because if I kick, he would put me down. We had some spies over there, who were training with him this whole week, and they always came and spoke to us. So, I had to hold back the kicks and my left hand, because he was going to counterattack on her,” he revealed, in an excerpt reproduced on the channel’s “Combat” website.

According to Aldo, these spies would be athletes who, like Edgar, performed at UFC 200 in the blue corner. Ultimate normally separates a single locker room for athletes from the same corner, which allows access to information. “We always place a spy. They always send a guy to participate in the guys' training there and he then passes it on to us. We take it and are already aware of what they are training. Thank God it always happens, man. It always happens that Brazilians are in the other corner. So, usually when I arrive to train on the first day, I also see the list of corners. And, if there is a Brazilian, we look for the guy, to ask if he can take a look there, because that helps a lot too”, he added.
