About to have his first fight since losing the UFC belt, Holly holm The immediate objective is not to regain the title. The North American hopes to be able to avenge her defeat to Miesha Tate, even though her tormentor is no longer the women's bantamweight champion.
This Saturday (23), Holm faces Valentina Shevchenko in the main fight of UFC on FOX 20, in Chicago (USA). If she defeats her rival, the former champion then wants to clean up her record. “I want to win, I don’t care who I’m against. No matter what's at stake, I want to win. I wanted a rematch with Miesha after this fight, because I want to avenge my loss. It has nothing to do with the belt,” she said, in an interview with the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.
However, Holm recognizes the tough task ahead, especially after seeing the fight between Shevchenko and Amanda nunes, who is now the new champion of the category. “If the fight had lasted longer, Valentina would have won – and Nunes is the champion now. As much as people ask me what I want after this fight, I still need to deal with it. I'm fighting one of the best girls around. I cannot underestimate this fight. I have a lot of work ahead of me,” she acknowledged.
