The UFC announced that it will hold an event in the city of Hidalgo, in the US state of Texas, on September 17th. And the main fight of the night will pit two of the most explosive athletes in the lightweight division face to face: Dustin poirier e Michael Johnson.
Since moving up to the 70 kg category in 2015, Poirier remains undefeated. The “Diamond”, as he is known, defeated Carlos Diego Ferreira, Yancy Medeiros, Joseph Duffy, and, more recently, Bobby Green. Poirier currently occupies eighth place in the weight rankings.
Johnson is tenth on the list, although he is coming at a difficult time. After hitting Edson Barboza in Porto Alegre, in February 2015, the fighter lost to Beneil Dariush in a controversial decision by the judges, in addition to a new defeat for Nate diazin December 2015.
Another six fights were confirmed for the event: Derek Brunson x Uriah Hall, Evan dunham x Abel Trujillo, Manny Gamburyan x Alejandro Perez, Sam Sicilia x Gabriel benitez, Chas Skelly x Maximo Blanco and Joey Gomez x José Quiñonez.
