Brazil started off on the right foot at UFC Fight Night 91, an event held this Wednesday (13), in Sioux Falls, South Dakota (USA). In the second fight of the night, the Brazilian Rani Yaya finished Matthew Lopez with a katagatame and scored his third consecutive victory in the organization.

The fight
The fight between Rani and Lopez studied on the feet, with a small advantage for the North American. After exchanging punches near the bars, the Brazilian slipped and fell to the ground. Matthew tried to take advantage of the moment on top, but decided not to remain in the Brazilian's guard and the duel returned to standing.
Lopez grew again in the fight when he landed a good right on Rani in the stand-up fight and, once on the ground, he went for an armbar, but the Brazilian defended himself well. The North American, however, continued on top and ended the period on top and opened up an advantage.
In the second round, Rani came back ready to make up for the losses from the previous round. In the first few moves, Lopez tried a flying knee, but was harshly countered with a straight shot.
Afterwards, Yahya took the fight to the ground, but ended up on the bottom. Lopez, in turn, tried to surprise and went for an inverted triangle. The Brasilia native defended himself well, reversed his position and started working on top with several punches from above. At the end of the partial, Rani tried to get an armbar, but the American defended himself as best he could and was saved by the bell.
In the third round, Rani was unaware of her rival's wrestling base and soon took the fight to the ground. Lopez blocked him well from below and the referee placed the athletes back in the center of the cage.
Without wasting time, the Brazilian returned to the ground fight and this time ended the dispute. He quickly went to his opponent's back, but was unable to secure the rear naked choke. but Matthew defended himself well. However, Yahya quickly went for the katagatame and finished the dispute at the end of the third round.
