After shining on Japanese soil by winning the Sengoku middleweight belt, the Brazilian Jorge santiago will have a new chance to establish himself in the UFC. The Rio native was hired yesterday (11) by the North American organization and could be in action at UFC 130, which will be held on May 28th in Las Vegas.

In his first stint in Ultimate, Santiago was defeated in two of his three fights at the event. After knocking out Justin levens, at UFC Fight Night 5, the American Top Team athlete was defeated by Chris Leben e Alan belcher in the following two editions of the show, which led to his dismissal from the UFC.

Before becoming an idol in Japan, Santiago won the Strikeforce middleweight GP in 2007. But despite the title, the Brazilian athlete could not resist a proposal made by Sengoku directors, beginning his journey in Asian lands. In the Japanese event, Santiago won the middleweight belt after winning his first five fights, where he submitted on four occasions.

 

PUBLICITY:

Undefeated in two fights, the athlete has a record of 23 wins and eight losses. In his last engagement, he defended his old Sengoku belt by knocking out the Japanese Kazuo misaki, at Sengoku 14, in a fight considered by the specialized media as the best of 2010.
