Santiago became Sengoku champion by submitting the Japanese Kazuo misaki in a valid fight for Sengoku Rebellion 2009. Since then, he has faced the Polish twice Mamed khalidov, obtaining one victory and one defeat, and the first confrontation, in which he ended up defeated, was not valid for the middleweight title. In his last fight, the Brazilian athlete beat Misaki again, this time by technical knockout in one of the most praised fights in MMA last year.

Still on the microblog, a fan of the fighter wrote a message demonstrating his desire to see the Brazilian face some of Strikeforce's main fighters. In response, the tough guy stressed that he will wait for the facts to unfold and then make a decision on what direction he will take his career.
